Week 9 Log
Week 9: Production part 2
This week we all mainly work on improving the features we already had. We finally implemented the second minion enemy we had! It appears at night and attacks the players in a different pattern than the other minions we already had. So we finally have two type of enemy and a boss, which should add extra fun to the game! But well... not yet. We did ran into a really big problem, unfortunately. Since we implemented the second minion enemy, the first one stopped spawning (r.i.p). Our programmers didn't have the time to fix it this week, as we realised it pretty late, but will surely look into it for the next week. Other than that, they continued working on the boss, improving it and also on the player's main attack. Right now, we implemented a system so that after a certain number of hit, the player is able to call and use a special long range attack. Finally, they also were able to implement the day/night cycle visually, so we have now a sun setting and rising ♥
Furthermore, our artists started working on the UI. We did try to already implement the basics of it in the game but when trying that, it broke the camera so we decided to retry later. So right now, we're mostly concentrating on the design of it (but we will make sure it's fully integrated by next week). Meanwhile, one of us worked on rigging and skinning the player character as well as the boss. The character is now fully rigged and skinned, and even has some animation (although it still needs to be implemented in the game). The boss is a work in progress on that side as fixing the weight painting for the skinning appears to be a challenged. We also fixed some materials in the scene and made sure it was double sided. Lastly, one of the minion who needed a weapon finally has one, as well as the player (hallelujah!), and the boss basic attack vfx is completed! The artist in charge of the vfx is now working one the particle effects for the stat upgrades.
